1950's Wicker Fishing Creel Lake House Fishing Decor Fishing Basket NO STRAPS

Jumbo vintage fishing creel with aged leather trim and a hole in which to deposit your fish.
If only this creel could talk....this rich warm patina only comes from years of use.
This creel was so well loved that its former owner performed multiple repairs.
There is an especially primitive wire repair that attaches one side of the lid to the back of the basket. Did this "make-do" repair happen on a major fishing trip?
There are also repairs, probably done at home, with a white twine running stitch that adhere the top piece of leather to the lid.
This fly fishing basket is sturdy enough to still use for trout fishing today.
The only thing missing are the leather or canvas body straps.
