    Description

Offered for your consideration is a
    Colibri
    1928
Limited Edition lighter, made in Japan c.2003.  This lighter is a modern butane reissue of Colibri’s venerable “kickstart” lighter of 1928, in celebration, I've read, of the company’s 75th anniversary.  The lighter features a gold-tone case with checkered wide panels, smooth ends, and a blank cartouche (initial panel).  Plus, it is numbered 1498, presumably of 1928 pieces but I’m not sure about that.
So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this neat Colibri kickstart reissue lighter should join your collection.
This Colibri 1928 reissue is in clean, good cosmetic condition.  It measures 2” tall x 1 9/16” at widest x 9/16” at thickest.  The case has no scratches or dents, just lots of tiny usage marks from the years.  There is also some plating wear noted on the spring-arm thumb lobe and base perimeter.  Plus, the snuffer opens/closes smoothly, either manually or by action of the arm which also works correctly.  I did not polish the lighter, only wiped it clean of finger marks and such for the photos.  Overall, this Colibri presents quite nicely.
I obtained this Colibri as part of a small lighter collection I recently purchased from a retired gentleman.  After adding a fresh flint, I noted strong spark from the “kickstart” mechanism.  Next, I filled the lighter sparsely with Ronsonol butane and was able to get it to light nicely, as pictured below, but only several times per fill.
The lighter leaks butane from its valve very quickly
    .
As such, it is being offered for repair or parts value only
.  Once sorted out by a knowledgeable collector, this Colibri will be a fine lighter for daily use!  Lastly, as with many items found in the secondary resale market, no box or papers are available for this lighter.
As pictured and described, this limited edition Colibri 1928 reissue lighter is offered at a competitive price.
